The Pizza Factory & Madbrook Donut Co.

The Pizza Factory is a pizza place around this area. Their claim to fame is the "breadtwist" - they bake a break stick that's cutely wrapped around a stick and put it in a vase on the table. I personally think it's a little overpriced  for the amount you get, but every table around us had one, so people are still buying them. Anyway, the coupon was for 50% off a pizza. The friend I went with and I could not decide between three of the tasty sounding pizzas and we asked the waiter what he would choose - he reaffirmed me that I chose the best ones and he was in the mood for bbq one. We picked the garlic ranch chicken and it was DELICIOUS. Seriously. Very very good. Go try that pizza.

The morning I went to Madbrook Donut Co., I was coming from getting some fasting blood work done. That meaning, I was hungry. Very hungry and like 6 tubes of blood down. So I walked in there and ended up walking out with 2 dozen assorted. I was taking them somewhere, but of course, ate 2 on the way. And holy-manoley! These donuts are big. No joke - huge donuts. They make some of them into cute triangles! The ones I tasted - a glazed maple and a classic - were very good, and I got good report from the others that had them. Madbrook also has sandwiches and soups and such. But go for a donut! The coupon was for 50% off a donut order.

Taco Taco & Sub Zero

Taco Taco is a small restaurant with big authentic flavor. I had heard rumors from a few people (one being a Mexican descendant saying it was the closest food she's had to real Mexican) and was very excited to hear this was where a friend was choosing to have his birthday meal. The food was very good! Service was great. The coupon was for bogof entree. Recommend it for sure!

Sub Zero Ice Cream is a crazy space place! They take a liquid base (milk, yogurt, cream etc), mix in a liquid flavor (I did brownie batter), put in your mix-in's (cookie dough of course), and then spray nitrogen onto it! It creates this crunchy version of ice cream that they then beat down into a smoother texture for you to enjoy! It kinda keeps a weird, Dot's texture. I went to this place twice, the second time using the coupon of bogof menu item. I decided on the second trip that I didn't really like the ice cream. I much prefer churned. With that said, I do love science, and I do love this idea! It's worth a try.

Robintino's & Warren's

Robintino's Pizza & Italian is a family owned restaurant that's had it's doors open for about 40 years. The restaurant was a little cheesy inside (kept looking into this room at the ceiling), but it adds to the fun. The coupon was for a bogof any sized pizza. The waitress brought waters and a plate of bread sticks to her first table round... I don't think the bread sticks were very good, but the pizza was! We had a good group of people and got two 15" pizzas - a pepperoni and mushroom and the Robintino's special something or other (a supreme). The cheese was nice and gooey and the pizza was all around tasty! Fun place I would go back to try pasta dishes too.

We then tried to go to Scoopology, but the location was closed! Lame. I looked at their website (which hasn't been updated). According to the website, there is supposed to be one inside of Beyond Glaze (I am SO looking forward to this coupon usage - bacon maple or chocolate donuts!!) so I will keep the coupon and see if they'll let me use it there.

Warrens is a place I've been before. I used the bogof classic breakfast entree coupon. I was by myself, but wanted to use the coupon because I rarely go out for food around breakfast time. So I got the Go For It and the French Toast & Egg breakfast's. I ate the french toast & egg one, and it was very good. Their hashbrowns had this really good taste to them! I gave the other plate away to a gal at where I was going. So, Warren's is a decent place for breakfast if you are there at that time.

Denny's, Pepperbelly's & Sugar Daisy Bakery

Okay, so FINE...we went to Denny's again! They just happened to be close to where we were and open (tried TWO different coupon places before deciding to go...who closes at 3 & 4 pm anyways!? COME ON!)...Well, been to Denny's before. This coupon was for $5 off a $20 purchase. We actually had pretty good service, but we sat close to a table of gals who were having a terrible waiting experience. The manager apologized to us as we paid, and I said I'm just glad it wasn't us this time (ugh...this was a different location). Still good food.

So, you've got a garage full of old gasoline memorabilia...but then you think "well this area gots too many burger themed memorabilia restaurants...let's cook Mexican!". Enter Pepperbelly's. It's a small, brightly painted restaurant with, like I said, old time gasoline memorabilia (gas cans, signs, pumps, oil cans, etc). Aaannnd they serve pretty good Mexican food. The coupon was for a bogof lunch or dinner entree. We got a chicken tostada and a smothered chicken burrito. They were tasty! It's cute and fun in there...the waitress was very nice. I just don't get the decorations....unless it's a joke to the methane released from you after huge consumption of fiber. Hmm...

Sugar Daisy Bakery is a small place that specializes mostly in catering orders. But they do have a good selection of cupcakes to buy up front. They have a schedule of what'll be in the store - I went on a Saturday and it was bakers choice. The coupon was for 50% off a baked goods order. I got 2 or 3 of each flavor they had out - Chocolate Mint, Orange Zinger, Carrot's N Cream, Skooore, and Snikerdoodle (btw chrome is telling me snikerdoodle is spelled wrong & it's first suggestion is "spinsterhood") . I don't like mint, so it's the only one I didn't try, but it got good reviews. First choice from the group was skoore (a chocolate cake with caramel inside. vanilla frosting w/choc chips & toffee garnishes). My personal favorite was the carrot cake. Anywho's the cupcakes were good, good place to go.
Note: The entire party of 7 people all concluded that as tasty as the cupcakes were, none will ever be better than Jenny's! FER SERIOUS!

Warren's Drive Inn & Yogurt Factory

Warren's is a local fast food business started in the 1950's. In 2003, it was bought and merged with Dylan's Drive In's and is technically Dylans-Warrens (6 locations in Roy/Ogden). Their famous (to Utahn's anyway) slogan "fresh things first" changed with this most recent purchase to "get fresh"...gets straight to the point I suppose. Anywho, used the bogof burger/sandwich coupon from the book. Got two burgers - Smoky Bacon (yum!) and the Mushroom 'n Swiss (told it was yum). Good place. If you go inside, they have a salad bar. They also have pretty good shakes/ice cream. Best of all, they have crinkle fries!

The Yogurt Factory is a small little place (5 tables) in Brigham City that is just so cute. It is a sandwich/ice cream/yogurt place, with fun original plates. They have frozen yogurt, farr's fresh ice cream, and ice cream bars reminiscent of the ole ice cream trucks. We used two coupons from the book. A bogof pizza pocket and a bogof medium frozen yogurt. A pizza pocket is kinda like a calzone or hot pocket...what pizza toppings and cheese you want stuffed into a half circle of thin dough. It was very tasty. The prices are very inexpensive and the food is good. So if you're headed up there, definitely stop!

Actually, both of these places have very good Lime Ricky's. So there's that too.

Sonic, Kodiak Cookies & Este Pizzeria

Ahh, Sonic Drive In takes me back to the time of poodle skirts, football teams, roller skating, and rock 'n roll. It's the American ideal - being served fatty, preserved food right up to your drivers side window! Either way, it's pretty good. They have excellent cherry limeades. We used two coupons, bogof Sonic burger and a bogof Footlong Quarter Pounder Coney. They also have weekday specials where a side order will be  $.99, and this day just happened to be mozzarella sticks! There are a few more coupons for them in the book, so I'll be back.

Kodiak Cakes started as Baker Mills boxes for flap jacks, cakes, waffle mixes. I read the story for the company starting the cakes store in SLC because people were using the flap jack mix and turning them into cookies, and everyone loved it. Cookies were a little overpriced, but good. I also saw this on the website and thought it would be helpful for you bakers out there. From the book, we used 2 of the 3 coupons; bogof cookie and 50% off any baked goods order. For the baked goods order, I got a box set of four cookies - peanut butter chocolate, dark chocolate pumpkin, orange chocolate chip, and cranberry walnut cinnamon cookies. YUM!

Este Pizzeria is a New York style pizzeria with a fun atmosphere and friendly staff. I really liked the entire wall mural of a subway train over a city scape - very cool. They serve Squatters (a local brewing company) beers and tasty pizza. It is kinda expensive, glad to have the 50% off a pizza coupon from the book. We got the Pink Pizza that had yummy ricotta cheese and marinara covered with mozzarella. The toppings were so GOOD. Very tasty!! I loved the New York-ness of the big slices you fold in half and eat. They also have a beautiful little outside eating alley with stringed lights above. Too cold for this visit, but definitely next time we visit.
